Tulip time, April 2024
With the arrival of spring and sunshine, the flower bed at the footbridge in Waterside is once again a luminous mass of colour thanks to the hard work and green fingers of volunteer gardeners Janice Whyte (pictured) and Jack Gartshore.
Thank you, both of you!
Huge thanks too to the village's other volunteer gardeners, Janice Whiteford and Fiona Gilmour, who look after planters and flowers elsewhere in the village. What a difference you all make to Waterside!

Future Hub in the news on 10 January, 27 January & 7 February 2024
Waterside Miners Charitable Society's project to demolish derelict Waterside Miners Club and build a community hub on the site hit the front pages in January and February with news that the charity has the necessary permissions to knock down the club and replace it with a new community facility.
It was also reported that the charity had taken delivery of two laptops and a printer thanks to funding from East Dunbartonshire Council's Community Grant scheme.

Flyers have been going out in the neighbourhood to keep everyone up to date on this important project and invite others to get involved. If you would like to be part of it, please contact the secretary at [email protected].
The flyers also highlight the charity's Just Giving campaign at https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/waterside-hub.
All donations hugely appreciated.

In other Waterside Community Hub news, Ethan Gilmour has been looking for sponsorship for his Glasgow Winter Warmer Half Marathon, run on Sunday 4 February. Ethan, who had never taken part in a half marathon before, completed his rainy 13.5-mile run in the very good time of 1 hour and 42 minutes.
The commentator mentioned the Waterside Hub project twice, so Ethan's T-shirt (designed and printed by Kenwil) performed brilliantly too.
It is not too late to sponsor Ethan's efforts for our future Waterside Community Hub. His Just Giving page is here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/ethan-gilmour. Any donations very welcome.
